GOP filibuster threat has legislation stalled

1:10 A.M. — Legislation promising tools to help grow and sustain small businesses is stalled in Congress.

A Republican filibuster threat could derail the bill this week, which would prevent approval until at least September.

Some Southwest Florida business people are frustrated by the impasse over the bill.

The financial crisis didn't happen just because banks, credit-card companies and mortgage lenders forced consumers to take on massive debt. We willingly gobbled up the easy credit they offered and used it to buy cars and houses, take vacations and go shopping.
